Panoramic HDR in B/W

Ok, Now for a HDR panoramic in black and white! This final image consists of 24 images, 8 shots x 3 for hdr, processed and tonemapped in Photomatix, then stitched and and converted to black and white in CS4. This was shot in the middle of the afternoon but I used the adjustment sliders to make it look like night.

  1. Joe, this is some amazing work. The detail, lighting and contrasts draws one into the story of each photo. They are worth the time and care you put into them.

  2. Joe,

This is very nice work. With each new piece you present, I'm inspired and invigorated creatively.

Prior to seeing your decaying urban HDR pieces I had little interest in HDR work. I felt it often looked too cartoonish for my applications. But your approach to producing HDR images has changed my mind. The look is much more subtle and real but yet still moody. The B&W images are particularly interesting.

    Very well done.

  3. Joe, I love how the photo turns from day to night. It gives this a 1800's feel to the photo

  4. Joe,
    a really nice photo!
Are you always using the same workflow:
    1) create HDR images by combining the 3 exposures
    2) stich the HDRs to create a panorama
    3) convert the panorama to B&W in Photoshop

Is this the best sequence in all situations, or have also tried something else?

Is there any more detailed information about B&W HDR panoramas available somewhere in the Internet?

  5. That is the workflow I always use. You know I never really investigated it on the internet. I was just playing around when I did the this one(the cemetery). If you find any cool sites I'd be interested in them.
